Race Reports

My journey to the Return to Triathlon event August 2021

A report by Ciaran Maguire on the Return to Tri. Anyone that knows me, knows that triathlon and me don't go into the same conversation 😅. It started out with me trying to swim in the pool because a work colleague recommended it for back and shoulder pain. I have an...

Return to Tri – 8 August 2021

A report by Colette Young. To mark the 10th anniversary of the Sligo Tri Club's hugely successful Women's and Men's Initiatives, a new plan to inspire people to 'Return to Tri' and provide some guidance, support, and connection after the impact of the pandemic, was...

Hardman Bantry Bay – Middle Distance Triathlon 31st July 2021

A report by James Coulter This was an event I have been wanting to do for a couple of years now, as I heard it was a tough challenge and a good alternative to Ironman events. Little did I know just how tough it was going to be. Getting all of my preparation done,...

Half Iron Bantry Hardman – 8th Aug 2020

Conor Gilligan – Race Report – Hardman Long Distance 2018

By Conor Gilligan A few people have asked me for this so here it is. I got back into the swing of triathlon training this year after spending 2017 more cycling-orientated, focusing on the Marmotte (a hilly sportif in France) and A4 road racing. I'd heard about the...

Paul Rutherford – World Championships, KONA 2017

By Paul Rotherford Right so, I've been putting this off and now that I'm home and it's been a week since the race, that it's time to cleanse the soul. IN SHORT: Swam - Poorly; Under-Biked; Ran to Survive. OTHERWISE, suffer as I did and read on... The night before the...

Blacksod Point Challenge Triathlon

By Dermot Cunningham Without doubt, outside of Sligo, my favourite Triathlon has always been Blacksod. It was a very special event on the Triathlon Ireland Calendar, and was seen as the final race of the year for many of our Club Members. Blacksod Point is about 23km...
