Tri with Pride

Sligo Triathlon Club is delighted to introduce a new initiative for the LGBTQIA+ community on the ethos of introducing people to the world of triathlon.

The programme consists of six weeks of training where participants are coached in run, bike and swim, culminating in a mini-triathlon.

Training sessions – from 3 July

There are two training sessions each week.

Brick sessions (cycle & run)

  • Tuesdays at 6:30pm
  • Recreational park opposite the sports complex

Swim sessions

  • Sunday at 6pm
  • Sligo Sports Complex

These sessions will be coached by experienced trainers who have worked on initiatives before and have an inclusive approach.

Mini-triathlon – 14 August

The event culminates in a mini-triathlon. This consists of:

  • 250 metre swim
  • 10km cycle
  • 3km run

Location: Sports Complex and the park across the road

This event promises to be a great day out for both participants and supporters.

Critical to the running of the event is the system of mentoring, where participants from the previous year’s initiatives provide support to the new participants.

We are delighted to have the support of Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership, Sligo Pride, Sport Ireland, Triathlon Ireland, Sporting Pride and Swim Ireland for this event.
